Insult to America

This is nothing political as the title might insinuate. I am watching the World Series right now. Game 1. Who would have ever guessed that it would be the Rays vs Phillies. Las Vegas was giving the Rays a 130 to 1 shot at making it to the Fall Classic. Millions of people are watching are watching this historic series. The first time the Rays are in the series. The native Floridans who call themselves The Backstreet Boys were called on to sing the National Anthem. I have heard some pretty bad renditions of the Star Spangled Banner before. Some horribly out of key, some not even hitting the right notes. Those were far better then this version. It was so horrible that I wanted to cry. For goodness sake! this song should be sung out of respect for your country! People Died because of that battle cry. They showed the most amount of disrespect for our nation that I have seen in a long time. stupid Backstreet Boys.

I would have to agree with Jeff that was one of the worst performances ever. Last nights wasn't much better either. I don't know the group that sang it but it seems like they are trying to change the national anthem to be more "up to date." The national anthem should be sang with alot more respect.

Thanks for the link Jeff. I didn't get a chance to see the game on TV. I have to agree with you in that I wasn't a big fan of the Backstreet Boys performance. It wasn't that they were out of tune, but I really wasn't all that fond of the rendition they did. I don't think it helps that I already wasn't a big fan of the Backstreet Boys to begin with. I totally see why you didn't like the performance.

At first when I heard you guys talking about it in class, I didn't think I'd be that bad. But when I actually watched it I realized how much of a mistake I had made in thinking it wasn't that bad. That was totally rude. I most definitely did not appreciate how they sung that. It shouldn't be sung with even a quarter of that much disrespect. Now I know how you feel about that performance. It was horrible.

I have to agree with you Jeff. The way that they sang the anthem just made me think that they were trying to make it sound really different, and that I couldn't tell what they were trying to do with the anthem. I agree with Angie that the national anthem should be sung with better respect than what the Backstreet Boys did.
